Words and music: Roger Wightman. Dave plays an 18th Century doublebass which once belonged to Duke Nielson of Don Messer and His Islanders. Dave’s father was looking for a bass for his young son to play and Duke agreed to sell it with the understanding that “it’s in ten pieces.” It is now in one piece (restored by Fred Isenor) and you can hear it on this recording.
